Notes and AI Edit
Write in 9xchat, edit with the model, and move material between notes and chats.
Notes is a writing space that sits beside your conversations rather than in a separate app, so anything worth keeping from a chat has somewhere to go.
Writing
Notes are listed on the left in the same folders-and-search shape as chats, with ⌘F to find one. Choose New Note to start.
The editor is block-based: the control showing Paragraph changes the current block to a heading, a list, a quote, or code. Each note keeps its own timestamp.
AI Edit
Rather than pasting text into a chat and pasting the answer back, you can ask the model to work on the note in place. The result arrives as a diff — proposed changes shown against what you wrote — so you read what would change before accepting it.
That is the important part: an AI edit is a suggestion until you take it. The note is not rewritten underneath you.
Moving between notes and chats
Any AI response or code snippet in a chat can be saved straight into Notes in one step, which is usually easier than copying it out.
In the other direction, the Manage Notes tool lets the assistant read and write notes during a conversation, so you can ask it to pull something from a note without finding and pasting it yourself. Like every tool, it can be switched off under Library → Tools.
Where notes live
Notes are stored in 9xchat's local database on that device, alongside your chats and memories. What leaves your machine is whatever you send to a model: asking for an AI edit sends the text you are editing to whichever model is selected, so use a local model when the material should not leave the device.
Settings → Data & Exports backs the workspace up.
