Browser extension
Install 9xbuddy for Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, and understand what the extension does differently from the desktop app.
9xbuddy also ships as a browser extension. It runs the same extraction engine as the desktop app, but inside your browser: it notices media on the page you are on, and downloads it without a round trip to a server.
Install
Chrome
Install from the Chrome Web Store.
Edge
Edge installs the Chrome Web Store build.
Firefox
Install from Firefox Add-ons.
YouTube works on Firefox, not on Chrome or Edge
The Chrome Web Store does not allow extensions to download from YouTube, so the Chrome and Edge build ships without YouTube support and blocks it at runtime. The Firefox build includes it. This is a store policy rather than a missing feature, and no setting changes it — use the desktop app if you need YouTube on a Chromium browser.
Finding media
The extension works two ways, and you can use either:
- It watches the page. When it notices media, its toolbar icon shows a count of what it found. Open the popup to see the list.
- You ask it. Open the popup on any page and extract that tab on demand.
Results appear in the popup, and in your browser's side panel or sidebar if you prefer to keep them open beside the page.
What it can download
- Direct media files.
- Streamed video served as HLS or DASH, joined back into a single file inside the extension.
- Audio and video tracks merged into one file, on Firefox.
- Audio saved as MP3.
Extraction happens locally. The page you are on, the media you download, and your cookies are never sent to 123sudo.
What the desktop app still does better
The extension is deliberately narrower. Reach for the desktop app when you need:
- Bulk downloads — pasting many links or importing a CSV/TXT list.
- Trimming and format conversion beyond saving audio as MP3.
- Proxy support, custom headers, and the built-in browser.
- YouTube on a Chromium browser, as above.

Your account
The extension uses the same 123sudo UID as the desktop and mobile apps, so a subscription bought once covers all of them.

Creating a UID from the extension's first run starts the same 3-day trial the apps offer. If you already pay for 9xbuddy elsewhere, paste that UID instead of creating a new one — a new UID is a separate account and does not carry your subscription. See Your 123sudo UID and UID on three devices.
The extension sends an anonymous install identifier and, once you have one, your UID — enough to check your subscription and count devices. It does not send the page you are on, what you extracted, your cookies, or the media itself.
Language
The extension ships in the same 19 languages as the rest of 9xbuddy and follows your browser's language.
