Locked clips
How 9xSnap protects passwords, keys, cards and one-time codes.
Android locked clips and desktop secret previews are different features. Follow the instructions for your platform.
Android: unlock and paste
- Set a secure phone screen lock and enable secret locking in clipboard privacy settings.
- Open a masked clip in history or select it in the paste panel.
- Authenticate with fingerprint or the phone's credentials before viewing or pasting.
Supported secret patterns, sensitive clipboard flags and known sensitive apps help detection. You can also lock a clip yourself. Detection can miss secrets, so exclude apps whose content must not be saved.
Android: codes and app lock
Detected one-time codes are locked; with automatic code deletion enabled they expire after 60 seconds. Password-field copies detected by the service are skipped.
App lock in Settings protects opening 9xSnap separately from unlocking a clip. If unlocking fails, check the phone's screen lock. Do not remove it as a workaround: previously locked clips can become impossible to open.
Desktop: preview protection
Privacy settings offer warning, never saving or asking when a secret is detected, plus hiding detected secrets in previews. This is not Android's per-clip vault.
Enable Require unlock in Settings, Privacy to protect history access. Use your PIN or password; Touch ID is available on supported Macs only.
Plans and limits of detection
Free includes basic capture and recent history; Pro adds full history. Neither plan guarantees detection. A harmless clip can be flagged too; review the relevant privacy settings rather than assuming every hidden preview is a password.
