9xconvert Settings showing the General, Defaults, Conversions, and Downloads groups
Four of the five groups. Defaults decide what a file converts to when you do not pick a format yourself; Extraction continues below the visible fold.

General

  • App language changes the interface language. 9xconvert ships 19 languages.
  • Appearance follows the system or forces light or dark mode.

Defaults

These set the output format 9xconvert reaches for when you have not chosen one on the file itself.

  • Video Format — MP4, MKV, MOV, M4V, AVI, WEBM, FLV, WMV, or MPG
  • Audio Format — MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG, WMA, or OPUS
  • Image Format — JPG, PNG, WEBP, TIFF, AVIF, HEIF, or ICO
  • Document Format — DOCX, PDF, MD, HTML, or TXT

Setting a default does not lock anything: the Convert To picker on each file still offers every format and preset for that type.

Conversions

  • Parallel Conversions controls how many files process at once. More at once uses more CPU, memory, and disk throughput; if the machine becomes unresponsive or conversions slow down overall, lower it.
  • Location sets where finished files are written (defaults to your system Downloads directory, or any custom folder you choose).

Downloads

  • Connections controls the connections used for each fetched file. Higher values can improve throughput but can also trigger source throttling.
  • Speed Limit caps the total download rate in KB/s, shared across every download at once. 0 means unlimited. This needs an active trial or subscription.
  • Parallel Downloads controls how many From URL files download at once. It is separate from Parallel Conversions.

Connections is ignored while a speed limit is set. Throttling is measured over one connection, so a capped download uses a single connection no matter what that value says. Set Speed Limit back to 0 to get multi-connection downloads again.

A downloaded source is removed once its conversion finishes. The converted file is what you asked for; the fetched original is scratch, and keeping it was a common way to fill a disk without noticing.

Extraction

These controls apply when From URL resolves a batch, playlist, channel, or search result before downloading begins.

  • Bulk Retries sets how many times a failed extraction batch is retried.
  • Retry Delay (ms) waits between those attempts.
  • YouTube Pages limits how many result pages are requested.
  • YouTube Max Results caps how many items are returned.

Conversion never uploads a file, which is why there is no size limit. From URL, UID verification, and updates still need a connection.
