Desktop integration and shortcuts
Use the tray, notifications, Open with, the file-manager menu and rebindable app shortcuts.
These are desktop features for Windows, macOS and Linux. Android has its own sharing and background-work workflow.
Tray and closing the window
Settings → Desktop controls the tray or menu-bar icon and keeping active work running with the window hidden. The tray shows queue status and can reopen the app or Conversions.
If Keep running in the tray while converting is enabled and the icon is available, closing the window can hide it while work continues. Otherwise active work prompts before a close or quit that would stop it. Hiding a window and quitting the app are different actions.
Queue-wide tray Pause all and Resume all are Pro controls. When no work is active, do not assume closing a window leaves an always-running background converter.
Notifications and progress
Settings → Notifications controls completed and failed notices and offers a test notification. Operating-system notification permissions and settings still apply.
Supported desktop surfaces can show active-work progress or counts in the Dock or taskbar. The app keeps itself from suspending while work is active, but that does not guarantee survival across a restart or forced quit.
Open with and right-click conversion
Open a supported file through your operating system's Open with → 9xConvert where the installed package registers it. The app receives the file without making itself the default handler for every format.
Settings → Desktop also offers Convert with 9xConvert in supported file-manager menus. Availability depends on the operating system, package and file manager; a missing menu on Linux is not proof that local conversion is unavailable.
Quick local conversion stays Free within the quota and batch limits. Own flows in that menu need Pro. Save your work and inspect output rules before running a flow that can replace an existing output.
Keyboard shortcuts
These shortcuts work while 9xConvert is the active app. Mod means Command on macOS and Ctrl on Windows or Linux.
| Action | Default |
|---|---|
| Home | Mod+1 |
| Library | Mod+2 |
| Conversions | Mod+3 |
| Editors | Mod+4 |
| Explore | Mod+5 |
| Settings | Mod+, |
| Find on the current screen | Mod+F |
Use Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts to change or reset them. Reserved keys and duplicate assignments are rejected. Editors have their own media controls; those apply to the visible editor rather than every hidden screen.
