Updates and versions
How 9xChat updates on each platform, where to see what changed, and what to include in a report.
New models, providers and tools arrive with each release, so staying current is the easiest way to get the most out of 9xChat.
Check your version
- Desktop: the version, such as v2.0.9, is at the bottom of the sidebar. Choose it to open What's New.
- Mobile: open the drawer; Version is at the bottom. Tap it for the changelog.
Include the version in any support message.
How updates arrive
- Desktop checks for updates on its own. Update Available offers Update Now; the update downloads in the background and installs the next time you quit, or straight away with Restart now. You can also choose Check for Updates in the tray menu.
- Google Play and App Store builds update through the store. When a new version is out, Update Available in the drawer opens the store.
- The Android APK updates itself: Update Now downloads the new version and hands it to Android's installer.
When an update is waiting on desktop, the bottom of the sidebar shows New version available with its number.
After updating to 2.0.9
This desktop security update requires you to sign in again to remote MCP servers that use browser sign-in, such as Linear, Notion, Sentry, and custom servers using the same sign-in method. Open Library → MCP Servers, select each affected server, choose Connect, and complete authorization in your browser. Return to 9xChat when you are done. You do not need to replace model API keys or sign in again to local STDIO servers or servers using an API key.
You can always fetch the current build from the download page.
What changed in each build
Release notes for every version are at 123sudo.com/changelog/9xchat. Recent highlights include smoother scrolling in long chats, a clear notice when a trial or plan ends, a warning when your computer's clock is wrong, and more reliable device recognition on macOS.
When to update first
- A model that used to work has disappeared or stopped responding. Provider APIs change, and the model catalog ships with the app.
- A tool or MCP server broke after working.
- A screen does not match this documentation. These pages follow the current release.
Before you report a problem
Update, retry, then work through Troubleshooting. If it persists, Pro users can open a ticket from Support in the app with diagnostics attached; anyone can write to support with the operating system, the 9xChat version, the model and provider, and the exact error.
Never include your UID, an API key, MCP secrets, or private conversation contents in a report or screenshot.
